It's the phenomenon of the new millennium, forced by high demand for construction manhours, and satisfied by illegal immigration. If you find a contractor to take on your job, there's a good possibility that the people doing the work are unskilled, unaccountable, working illegally and have no ongoing relationship with the person you originally contracted to do the work.

Are you happy to let people into your home that your contractor has "met" the morning your job starts? Do you want people with totally unproven skills to be undertaking your work?
